TBK explains: Conveyor belt trackers
WHY does a conveyor deviates from its centerline?
In theory, a conveyor belt will always run centered on the idler rollers. In practice, however, minor deviations occur due to factors such as contamination, wear and tear, varying loads or tolerances in the structure. It is precisely these minor deviations that can ultimately have major consequences.
WHY is a misaligned conveyor belt a problem?
At first glance, a misaligned conveyor belt may seem like a minor problem, but it can have major consequences for both the installation and its surroundings. Material loss, wear and tear of components, safety risks and unplanned downtime are just some of the consequences.
WHAT is a conveyor belt guidance system?
A conveyor belt guidance system is (usually) a mechanical solution that ensures that a conveyor belt remains automatically centered. As soon as the belt deviates from the center line, the system corrects the belt’s path and returns the conveyor belt to the center.
HOW does a conveyor belt guidance system work?
The @CenTrax belt tracking system consists of several PU- or rubber coated rollers mounted on a swivel arm. When the conveyor belt runs off center, the contact surface on the conical roller shifts, causing the circumferential speed to change. This causes the @CenTrax belt tracker to rotate, guiding the conveyor belt back to the center.
A conveyor belt guidance system forms part of a comprehensive solution. At @TBK Group, we first analyze the cause of the belt deviation. We then recommend the most effective solution, whereby a @CenTrax belt tracker may be one of the possible options.
