TBK explains: Conveyor belt sealing

WHY does material spill from a conveyor belt?

Large quantities of bulk goods are often discharged at loading and transfer points. This material will tend to spread across and alongside the belt.

WHY is it important to prevent material loss during discharge?

Material loss during the transport of bulk goods is undesirable and can lead to:

  • Health risks
  • Contamination of the plant, resulting in high cleaning costs and safety risks
  • Waste of valuable raw materials
  • Dust emissions

WHAT is a conveyor belt seal?

Conveyor belt sealing prevents dust and material from escaping at conveyor belt loading points. Effective conveyor belt sealing keeps the material on the conveyor belt. The result is a cleaner environment, less product loss, fewer unplanned stoppages and lower maintenance costs.

HOW does belt sealing work?

The @TBK Group Spill-Ex and @TBK Group SealTek belt sealing systems are fitted between the conveyor belt and the structure surrounding the transfer point. Thanks to the section-by-section adjustable height and overlapping design, the seal fits snugly against the conveyor belt, preventing material and dust from escaping.

The modular design allows the belt seal to be easily adjusted, ensuring optimum contact along its entire length. When combined with an impact bed, this creates an effective seal with minimal wear.
